Ignoring the unanswerable (and time wasting) “What is Art?” debate,  I simply “know it when I see it”.  For me, the aerial perspective is one that transforms mundane to awesome, confusion to clarity and the commonplace to the extraordinary.

“Art – The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.” -Oxford Dictionary

When I am in a plane or helicopter flitting from one place to another like a dragonfly on the hunt, the visual input of the earth below is almost overwhelming.   Through my lens, a whirlwind of shapes, patterns, textures and subjects of all sorts screams by at 100 mph.  It took me years of practicing my craft to be able to “see” and capture amazing images from within this pandemonium.

I hope you enjoy these examples of “The Art of Aerial Photography”.  As always, I welcome your thoughts and encourage you to share this with others.  Many of these images are available as stock photographs (www.stockaerialphotos.com) and large format art prints suitable for any home or office environment.
